Cirrus Aircraft has received an order from the United Aviate Academy (NASDAQ: UAL) for 25 TRAC SR20 aircraft.

The TRAC SR20s were ordered for initial pilot training at Aviate’s ab-initio flight academy. An agreement between Cirrus and United Aviate gives them the option to purchase rights to an additional 50 TRAC SR20s.

United managing director for Aviate and pilot strategy Curtis Brunjes feels the partnership between United and Cirrus will create an innovative force for them.

“United is thrilled to have chosen the Cirrus TRAC SR20 as the single-engine training aircraft for our United Aviate Academy,” Brunjes said in a statement.  “It reflects our commitment to preparing our future captains using cutting-edge technology and safety systems.

“Cirrus Aircraft has been an innovative force in general aviation and we are proud to partner as we lead our industry developing the next generation of pilots.”

How the Aircraft Will Be Used

United Aviate will utilize the aircraft at the United Aviate Academy, Westwind School of Aeronautics, in Phoenix, Arizona. Here new students will be guided through a year-long advanced program at the Phoenix Goodyear Airport (KGYR) to prepare them for successful and professional careers in the aviation industry.

The TRAC SR20 interior was slightly modified to meet the needs of United’s high utilization training format. The higher-end materials normally found in Cirrus Aircraft were replaced with durable ones, such as all-weather floor liners, water-resistant seats, and a roomier rear seating area added for additional students or observers. The TRAC Series includes the TRAC20, TRAC22, and TRAC22T.

The TRAC Series features an all-composite airframe structure including the standard Cirrus Airframe Parachute System. In addition to the parachute system, a wide array of interactive, tailored flight training content through Cirrus is available through the Approach program.
